Matlab Practical M106 TMA : You must submit your matlab code as a .m matlab function well commented. Also you must submit all figures and relevant plots as part of your work as a single file.
Question 1: 10 Marks
The Useful life of a computer bearing depends on its operating temperature as indicated by the following data:

Temperature (°F) 100 120 140 160 180 200 220
Bearing Life (kHr) 28 21 15 11 8 6 4

Plot the function for given data then from graph estimate the bearing life for a 150 °F operating temperature.
Question 2: 10 Marks
Given that y = 3 + x2, for -4 ≤ x≤ 4 plot function use MATLAB then evaluate the following expressions as sub plots to be included in same graph. Hand checks your answers.
(a) |y|
(b) 5y
(c) y/6

Question 3: 10 Marks
Method of Evaluating Student Progress is done by summing:
Total Grade= TMA mark + MTA+ Final examination
a) Write done MATLAB code to compute 10 students total grades, enter samples (TMA, MTA & final exam marks) using user INPUT and then compute total grade average & standard deviation.
b) Search using e-library list for different built-in functions used in MATLAB.
c) Plot histogram distribution of 10 students total Grade, enter following seven data input :
[68, 83, 61, 70, 75, 35, 62]


Question 4: 10 Marks

Write down a MATLAB program code to plot the graph the following function:
r(t) = cos (t) + sin (t) for 0 ≤ t ≤ 2π, run the written script.

Given the following MATLAB code, run it and find the value of k after executing the code? write down alternative code using for loop instead of while to give same output result.

Question 9: 10 Marks

Given variables x= -1, 2, 3, -2, y=0.2, 3.1, 0, -3 and z=3, 0, 1, 0.1 respectively, using if-else statements provide answers to the following logical operations wither it is True or False, write down required MATLAB script then run it four times for each values of variables x, y & z.
(A) (x > y) & z
(B) (x > 1) | (y < 0) | ~z

Question 10: 10 Marks

Write code that prints “Blue” for numbers less than 5, “Green” for numbers from
5 to 10 inclusive, and “RED” for numbers higher than 10.
